    Default First Straight Shave Today!!!

Used a Dovo Bismark 6/8 Stainless full hollow. I think I am going to like bigger blades as time goes on, I have good sized meat-hooks and it seemed a little dainty.

Sliced my ear up good with my first stroke, rest of the shave was slow and smooth. got one small nick on my chin. I was able to tell why with both cuts, probably won't happen again.

Having trouble getting a smooth shave on my neck right in that line under my chin, but I have a hard time getting that smooth with a Gillette fusion as well. Just a lot of dark, super stiff hair.

I am pretty happy with it and I can already tell this is my new favorite morning routine, just beat out checking spot prices on Precious Metals.

Thanks for all the help selecting razors and such!

I am kind of a boring guy so looking at metal prices is exciting to me. I like extreme simplicity in my life.

Brass is between 2-3 dollars a pound scrap, I don't normally follow metals that aren't on COMEX

I have been eyeballing silver, It is undervalued and I think if Solar takes off and the economy stays depressed it is going to go up.

Aloha welcome to SRP good job with the first shave!!! The now the only metal prices that you will be concerned with are Steel and Stainless Steel and maybe Damascus Steel in the form of Straight Razors. I think that boring has left the building once you started Straight shaving.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first shave. I am guessing the Bismark has a round point so I would stay away from spike points for a while anyway. I think it is normal to have trouble with the area at the jaw line especially just under the chin. I still have trouble with that area.

Yes it is a round point, and based on what happened I would have to say I cannot imagine how things would have gone down with a spike tip.

I can tell you that I have been bitten by a spike point on the ear lobe and I wasn't happy. I tend to mute my spike points a bit as result of that. There is a learning curve to everything. Main thing is you liked the experience overall.
