Missing a day, shaving 2 days growth or more
Gents,
I shave everyday and if I miss a day, my shave is more labour intensive. It takes longer to get to bbs and the razor also struggles more. I also cannot forgo a second pass, unlike when shaving with one day's growth.
Could this be due to the fact that with one days growth, the hair folicules are not all fully sprouted, meaning that the thicker strand of hair is still under the skin, which makes the shave easier?

I have no idea but I wish I had your problem. I can only shave every other day at the least. I can't wait for my beard to get long enough to shave lol.

Your issue is simple, your razor isn't sharp enough. The razor should slice through multiple days growth the same as one day no matter how tough a beard you have. I have to have at least 4 days growth (and I have a heavy beard) before I can even feel the razor starting to work and it still doesn't pull or skip.

+1 to what thebigspendur said. At the end of Movember I was amazed at how easily I mowed through a month's growth. And the same applies for when I have gone 3, 4, or 5 days between shaves. Truly sharp, shave-ready razor = no problem with extra growth in my humble experience.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 247Missing a day, shaving 2 days growth or more
But you must admit, while there is no extra effort shaving a few days/weeks growth, the extra sound is fantastic!!

In a way it is easier for me to shave with a second day growth because my skin has had a rest between shaves. Like TBS said, if the razor is sharp enough it shouldn't be an issue. Unless your shaving technique is not adequate. That could be a contributing factor.

Thanked: 220Interesting....I'm the opposite. I've noticed it easier to shave every other day, with closer shaves & less irritation. (Although I enjoy this shaving ritual, so I usually shave everyday!)

Thanks for your input guys. Even with some of my sharpest straights and even a DE, I still find my shaves faster and easier with one days growth.
