Well, i never got to have the shave shop check my razor the other day. I went in several times, and he was back with a shave client every time. BUT, Santa brought me a straight razor from Whippeddog.com (a Simmons Hardware No 8 Special). And I used it last night night. MUCH different. It is still a technique issue, as i had to make several more passes than I had to with my Parker Shavette. But i DID get a good shave, and I willl work on angles of attack, etc... knowing that I'm doing it with a good razor

I have to say that so far, after one shave :-), I'm very impressed with Whippeddog.com.

Don't do this. Please. They did not do a good job the first time. The likelihood of doing a good job the second time around is, well, slim. There are many hone masters here, and several have offered to hone it for you.
If you like the edge whippeddog puts on a razor, it pretty much says your razor was not honed correctly the first time. The dog hones all my razors the first time, by the way.
There's a local knife shop here the sells straight razors on the side. They have a razor honing service they offer, but I've never taken them up on the offer. They couldn't answer my questions.
Does the person doing the honing shave with straight razors?
    What equipment does he use?
    What does he finish with?
It's a nightmare scenario for me to imagine a local guy honing one of my precious vintage straights with a grinding wheel, just like you would a hunting knife.

I'm going to take back to the Shave Shop to see if they can make it right, because they are good guys. BUT, if they can't get it right i WILL take you guys up on your offers. Thanks again
