Thanked: 0Shaving hair on neck that grows east to west
I've been using a straight or a month or two now and I'm getting good results and I really enjoy the process. Only problem is there is one spot on each side of my neck where the hair grows east to west. Making two N to S passes and the one S to N still leaves these spots slightly stubbly. Am I s.o.l. Or is there a solution to this problem?

Thanked: 375I use a DE on my neck, so I'm not sure how helpful this will be, same concept different tool. I go from the base of the neck up for the first pass, then from the center at the base of the neck out, sometimes I may take the same stroke only at a 45 degree angle with a third pass. You have to feel the stubble, as your eyes are useless in this area. I shave my head with a DE and find that they are easier for me to manipulate than a straight when it comes to shaving my head & neck.

Thanked: 8I have the same problem. I found that an east west pass with the blade tip near my ear and the heel toward my adams apple gets the spots. It takes awile to figure it all out. Take your time and practice. You will get it. PS dont try with a square point till you get it right with a round point. dont ask how I know.

i hold the razor weired anyway ie i have the handle paralel to the blade ie straight like a comb,i then hold it upside down and shave sideways against the grain

I have somewhat the same thing. Under my jowls is my problem area. On the quest for the BBS, I finally came to terms with it. It looks good, but you can still feel the wiskers. Oh well. I can go for the BBS for those spots, but end up with razor burn in doing so. All my razors are square point but one, and it's due for a hone. I can get those spots easier with that one. I just picked up a new/old razor that I love, but the blade is a little longer than the rest, that is a new learning curve for me to remember! It can reach across were the others can't, it let me know that on the first shave!!

I am new to this but I wanted to see if anyone has any advice on how to hold the SR when going E/W or W/E on the neck? I tried holding the razor to give it a try but I can't get a good angle so I just don't do it.
Any tips? Pictures or Videos might help...LOL
Thanks!
