    Default Aftershave test

Don't know if this is a useful tip or not, but when experimenting with shaving technique, alcohol based aftershave gives me an objective indication about the results.

If the feeling is cold and tingly, the shave was a success.
It it feels as if I am flayed alive, it wasn't.

This is my acid test for a shave/razor as well. My honemeister prepared razor leaves me without that aftershave burn, it even more comfortable than a DE. When I hone myself I get as close a shave and it feels good when I am shaving but the aftershave really tells the tale.

I agree. I tried some different shaving techniques today and for the first time the aftershave didn't painfully burn, just a small tingle. I know from this that I did a better job.

I must be doing something right because even though I rarely use aftershave, lately I have been using my old bottle of Clubman just for a change and the last few shaves have been BBS all over and no burn. Just a nice soothing feeling on my face as I applied the aftershave.
