Two bits- my first experience
I have mentioned Sinners and Scissors, a local barber, a few times but I had not been there before. That has changed. I signed up for the haircut and shave, $40. I have been a little hesitant to pay that much for things that I do myself. It was worth it. Melissa spent a little over an hour on the haircut, shave, massage (face and neck), and clean up. The shave consisted of hot lather, hot towel, oil (or water) and another hot towel for a minute or two before the shave. She used a Dovo shavette and spot shaved. Lots of micro movements around the whiskers I wanted to keep. Measuring, double-checking, etc was frequent, however the moves were confident and precise. The result is the best shave and shave experience I have had. I feel more "man-scaped" than I ever have, but I suppose that is what you get with high-end quality and personal attention (and no parafin hand wax thing like I've had at another "man's salon," which I appreciated skipping).
Inside was filled with great barbering art and antiques. I particularly enjoyed the homages to barbering history- the pole, leeches, teeth, straight razors, DEs, etc.
Long story short- after the experience I feel that it was a bargain and easily worth my two bits (+ inflation).
