Thanked: 116Beard growing contest/Not shaving for a month??
So here's the thing: I LOVE shaving! However before I started using this thing you guys all call a "straight razor" I dreaded it.
It's now time for the annual Beard Growing Contest here at 14 Wing Greenwood in Nova Scotia. We are a small little community nestled away in the unpleasant yet occasionally picturesque Annapolis Valley.
Once a year the base gives us the opportunity to pay $5 and not have to shave for a month. At the end of it all there is judging and people get prizes for things like most pathetic beard, most colorful, most impressive etc etc.
I always looked forward to this part of the winter but thanks to all you jack offs here that have me spending my sons educational fund on vintage steel and rocks I'm actually kind of 'nervous' about it...
Shaving has become part of my morning ritual. At first it was the nice hot lather and the 'better than disposable' blade shave and now it's the ice cold water, the uberlather and the most perfect edges I can imagine.
Just wanted to say THANKS guys.....
Anyways, I'm going to do my best to post a picture a day to show you all my beard growth. My wife says I eventually end up looking Arabic... Whatever....
Also, at the end of the month, Ironsidegnr has come up with the wonderful idea of shaving off a months growth with one single edge. That should be fun, right???
If anyone else wants to do this for fun and post your pictures, please don't hesitate and post pictures starting tomorrow. You should be freshly shaved as of today (Feb 1) so tomorrow you'll be at 1 days growth.
Have fun!

Haha, good luck. Sounds like fun.
I had a hard time with Movember, but at least I was able to shape it into something during the month.
I don't think I could grow a beard in a month, I'm guessing it would take at least 3 for a decent one lol.

Ha ha! Excellent.
I won't be joining you on this one, but I am looking forward to the updates from Beardo Brooksie!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 247Dang dude! You have some dark growth.
I would win the pathetic beard for sure. My growth is dirty blond and requires weeks to show up as anything other than filth.

Thanked: 1The very first time I used a straight, I shaved off six months worth of beard. It went pretty well. But then again I grow in six months what others grow in two weeks.

Fair play to you for doing this I have tried a couple of times to grow a beard and 8 days is the longest I went before I felt nasty and also I was looking like a hobo

So that's what you guys in the cold north do when cabin fever sets in , and you're running low on alcohol
. Sounds like a fun thing to do . I want to see pics at the end of the month ! BTW , is it true , that when the temp drops below freezing , you guys start wearing long sleeve shirts ? Inquiring minds want to know .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .
