    Default Milestone with SR reached!

    Hi there SR community

About 5 months ago I was unable to get as close of a shave with my SR as I did with a DE (with a feather blade).
I thought I'd just about never be able to, but just this past week after steadily improving my honing stropping and shaving technique I can report that I now get a significantly superior shave using my Revisor 8/8 than I ever did using my Merkur Futur with feather blade.

I'm very happy! thanks for all the info and help guys!

Yea, it takes longer than you would think to get there but you eventually do. When that happens it is a happy day, congrats on your achievement.

congrats. im a little jealous, i still get a better shave with a DE and feather blades myself (been using a straight for 6 months or so), but seeing posts like this renews my hopes for that perfect shave with the straight. The journey is alot of fun though!

For me, parts of the success came from the following:

#1 upgrading to a heavier SR. I have a dovo 8/8 and I find the heft of it helps a lot.
#2 trying a few different honing techniques and practicing honing in general
#3 Shaving technique modification: super duper light pressure and just a higher number of passes. Maybe as many as 4. WTG XTG ATG ATG is what I've had most success with so far. With just enough pressure to remove the lather there is no significant strain on the skin, and I think I could do 10 passes at least before it became a problem.

Anyways, today I got a new naniwa 12k in the mail, previously I'd only honed on a norton 4k/8k, so I hope this new finishing stone will take the shaving experience to new heights.

Congrats!!!! Always a great feeling when you finally get "there." By the way, they shaves will continue to get better and better.
