    Default XTG on neck.

So it's been a while since I started shaving with a straight. And for a long time I have been ok the a BBS WTG and ATG on the neck. But I have hair that grows sideways under my chin that I can't shave (it's on the curve) No matter what I do I cannot get the angle I need, without cutting my neck. Any advice? Just ignore it? Start using a DE? Thanks!

You know, when I first read about straight shaving, I just understood that this way of shaving IS superior to everything else. And in this I assumed that it exclusively applies to the closeness of the shave, ie: the BBS. After all, this is what we all want deep inside at the end of the day.

I've been straight shaving now for nearly a year and I understand now why it it said that it IS superior. There are many-many aspects of shaving not only the BBS. Every time I'm "forced" to go back to any kind of shaving practice that I did before, I must realize that straight shaving is really the best. But you only can see it when you compare it.

Now I stopped chasing the BBS and started to appreciate all the rest. My love for my razors, lathering soap with a brush, getting a nice shave (not a true BBS) that lasts for many hours, the feel of my skin after shaving, the experiments made in order to improve my shaves (now I can get a better shave with 2 passes within 15 min. than I could with three passes within the hour), using my grandfather's strop, waiting for the stubble to grow so that I can shave, etc.

So my advice is that you should consider shaving as a whole process and enjoy it from beginning to end and even more than that. Do not worry about a patch that is not BBS. Stubble will grow anyway... Do not want to fight it! Accept it.

    Cheers

A lot of people have hair on their neck that grows in different directions. The neck is the last piece of puzzle for some people. You will really have to experiment with blade angles and stretching. Also, if you need to use a DE to clean up the area do not feel like you have failed.
