Thanked: 7what a change a different razor can make
Both were rescued from different antique stores, a 5/8 peaso solinger with an extremely hollow grind, and an 11/16 kropp(the kropp needed a fair amount of clean up to get to this point). I had a chance to shave with the kropp tonight, 2 days worth of growth on my head and i am blown away with the ease that it took for a very smooth 1 pass shave. The back of my head and neck where i have been needing to do a semi-across the grain pass to clean it right up with my solinger, didn't even phase the kropp. Working around the ears was noticeably easier with the increased blade width and overall just a more enjoyable shave. I do not have alot of experience with razors other then a couple of solingers and this kropp but wow, what a nice shaver.

Thanked: 1936You will find that every quality razor seems to take on it's own personality, they all do their job. Kind of like us, as we all have our own personalities. For head shaving, you might look into a 1/2-1/4 hollow on the next razor...they just push right thru smoothly. Never pass up a good find while you are out antiquing though!

Kropp razors are right up there with the best of them IMO
A premium razor without the premium price. The more we learn the less we know.

I can't even imagine shaving the head with a straight ..... or anything else, and finding it easy. The hair is so much more dense and stiff at the roots on the side and back of the head. That is obviously an outstanding blade and you must have done a first rate job of honing it to shave ready.

Thanked: 7I'm not saying that my peaso solinger is bad, it takes an amazing edge but with it being so hollow and steel wire for hair i have to keep it at a very sharp angle. and while shaving my face that is not so bad, blind behind my head is a different story. it is a perfect razor for practising a light touch, it will probably be kept for my lady shaver. it really sings.
