My First Straight Razor for realy good price
So my newly found Barber phones me today saying that one of his customers a old fella wants to sell his straight razor. My Barber manage to bring the price down and thought of me first. He said it was a really good blade and in a good condition. So hell, got some money and drive over to my barber took a look at the straight and was impressed and bought it......see pics....
So the back of the box says "Bismark Razor" and im not sure what the markings say or mean on the blade....any thoughts
well it is a second hand one and to find straight razor in South Africa are not easy or cheap...
so when my barber told me the price i had to get it ......R450 ($47)
My other problem is cleaning it up without removing the scales from the blade...any help with this???????

Take Q-tips, hit the tip with a hammer on a hard surface to flatten them so they fit into the scales. You can use metal polish like Maas, Flitz or SemiChrome. That also works with dental floss to get into the tang without removing the scales.
It is quite common to have a razor mismatched to the box. I am not familiar with that brand but it looks like a good one. If you are not familiar with honing perhaps you should send it out. Unless you friend the barber made it shave ready.

It's nice. French if I am not mistaken. Someone will be able to identify the maker.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
