Hair grows laterally on the neck.
On my neck, and right below my jawline, my stubble seems to grow left to right/right to left ---toward my ears. It's more pronounced the closer ya get to my ears. It's difficult to shave it right ---especially ATG. Any suggestions?

I turn the scales inward, employ a reverse grip and stretch on both sides of my adams apple simultaneously. For under the jaw I hold the blade parallel to the floor, stretch up from my cheek and draw the blade across underneath my jaw with the tip toward my adams apple. Can you picture all that?

I have the same problem. My beard grows from right to left. It helps if you can train yourself to use your razor equally well with either hand. Took me a good three years to be able to get the left side of my neck and just below the jawline. All it takes is lots of patience and practice.

Part of the key is stretching. I sometimes stretch up/down/sideways using different fingers, and add a little facial yoga to pull too. It might help to turn your head the opposite direction and tilt the head back a little so you're looking up before going for the stretch.

yep, Scrapyard Ape, I use my left hand as much as my right. But, sometimes those angles are difficult. It gets all flipflopped in the mirror and you have to watch out for the jaw "overhang" and that razor tip. But practice, practice, practice.......it shall be.

I have the same problem.
If I'm shaving 24 hours worth of growth it's about impossible for me to get the neck as clean as I could by going sideways with a M3.
On the other hand, it comes off much better with 2 days growth and the right combination of stretching and razor strokes.

You do need to watch out for the handle. When you're playing twister trying to get the right position---especially with the elbow high----you can bump the handle with your upper shoulder or arm and give yourself a good slice. A third arm would be nice.

Thanked: 1How normal is it for the hair to grow in that manner?
My jawline is the same. Though, on my neck, the center (around adam's apple) grows down and to the sides, but the sides of my neck grow almost straight vertical, up towards the ears. My first pass looks like most people's "against the grain" pass, I guess.
