Why are almost all the barbers in the Netherlands woman (at least not older than 30) with no talent and no interest in what they are really doing at all?
Look at this guy: even his nose and ears are cut... Wouw!

It's nice seeing everyday things taken to a high art. He seems to use small choppy strokes. There is another video at Badger and Blade ---I think it's a Tunisian shave --he also uses small choppy strokes. Maybe that's the way to do ---I'm still trying to figure it all out.

I think you're mentioning this one:

... and yes, that's definately a great video, and he to uses small strokes. But to be honest... I use small strokes too!

You are so right about the everyday things taken to an art (or at least done with respect and proper attention/awareness). I found that the simple things I do myselve (like shaving, baking bread, roasting my own coffeebeans etc) give me the most pleasure and joy!

I don't know if it's a control thing, a purist thing, a hands-on mechanics thing ----it's some kind of thing---but yes, take anything that is taken for granted, no matter how mundane, learn everything you can about it, do it well, and the world will open up for you. This lady I once knew and respected told me long ago : "There's much reason in this world to be sad but no reason to be bored." Take care in The Netherlands.
