A Moment of Magic...
...and thanks.
Yesterday's shave was a pure moment of magic. I want to thank all the gentlemen who offered advice to me as I learned my way around straights.
I worried whether the straight razor could match the closeness I was getting from DE's and yesterday's shave put this dilemma to bed.
A Bengall, Lea Menthol Cream and an Omega 45 came together in perfect proportions to yield a BBS that now, twelve hours later, rivals any shave I have gotten with any other combination of tools.
In every way, THIS is the shave I was hoping for!
Cheers and Shave On!---------------------------------------------------

Thanked: 1195I think your post should be a sticky in the Beginners forum to reassure the doubters that it is indeed possible. Well done and thanks for sharing.

I just wrote on another thread that I was finishing the learning curve with the DE and looking forward to the SE.
Your post gives backup to my enthusiasm.

Interesting that you bring up SE's.. this morning's shave was with a PAL Adjustable, just for a change of pace.
While it was a great shave, it was over before it began. In a good way. Smooth and comfortable, but now, a few hours later, I am already feeling some stubble that had I shaved with an SR, I wouldn't have for another few hours!!
The enjoyment for me is, as you describe, the learning curve. Tackling one type of razor, then the next...
Have fun!!---------------------------------------------------
