Thanked: 1i to have horribly touch whiskers, some of them are like toothbrush bristles.
what i do is the following
1) shower, wash face first in the shower, wash it more than once so that the face squeeks when you rub your hand over it, this assures that you have removed all the oil that may prevent water from penetrating the hairs
2) was rest of body in the shower (including washing the hair) every so often letting the water rinse over the face ( you want as much water absorbed into the hair as possible)
3) after I am all clean i slather hair conditioner on my beard and leave it
4) dry myself (conditioner in beard
5) comb hair (conditioner still in beard
6) brush teeth (conditioner still there)
7) strop razor (yes, conditioner is still there)
8) hot towel my face a couple of times removing conditioner
9) make lather on my face using good shaving cream
10) shave
