Tragedy, Then Redemption
Hi- I just started straight razor shaving a few weeks ago and I have much to learn and enjoy. I just finished stropping my first straight razor and was looking at the blade when (whoops) I dropped it! After checking that I hadn't dropped it on any of my body parts, I picked it up and checked it. Sure enough I dropped it right on the point and bent it a little. I tried to strop it on the nylon for a bit and on the first stroke on the leather it left a nice stripe on the strop. Crud! I have to send this out to hone and I've only had it three weeks. I was instantly heart-broken. I did not want to dig up the Mach 3 to shave the next morning.
Then, the UPS man came with my second razor from SRD. Saved!!

Thanked: 3At least now you know why it's not a good idea to shave naked, one never knows what that blade will hit on the way down ;-) Be careful with #2 and above all, learn and enjoy! Welcome!
It is preferable to have a criminal as a servant rather than a fool because a criminal's actions are at least predictable.

Thanked: 17Sorry to hear about your accident but they'll get it fixed up for you, and good timing on the second.
I've dropped 2 so far but have only broke the scales, never damaged the edge yet. Be careful though.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I will be more careful. I do have an excuse to get at least 2 more razors now. You know, just in case.
