Thanked: 375Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point
I have many vintage razors, but never a brand new one. So here's my new Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point right out of the box still oiled up. I'll be running this around my face tonight!

I think you have made an excellent choice as your first new straight razor. Enjoy.

Pls let us know what you think of the shaves - and if you touch it up - how you find the symetry (any warp or wave). 'Very handsome piece. Enjoy.

I bought a 6/8 round point grenadilla a couple months ago and it's my favorite. Shaves very well. I have not rehoned it yet, so I don't know if it's edge is flat. Do let us know, because for the price, it seems like you can't beat them.

Trimmy, nice razor!! I have the 5/8 & 6/8 round points and both are just excellent shavers. I think you'll love that razor and the shaves it'll give!!
Rob, Mine came from SRD, recent production and both got a little tweaking to dial in the edge for my honing style. Very slight uneven grind I think, kind of Wacker-esque. Honed on Shapton up to 16k and then finished on a 5 x 2 1/2" yellow/green Escher. Really nice edges and very smooth shaves.

I also bought a new Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point with Olive wood scales from Germany and it shaved perfectly right out of the box without the need for any tweaking. A first for me with new razors.
I am very pleased with it. Mine came in a different box with Ralph Aust printed on it.

A very fine looking modern razor, good buy.

Howard, Thank You! 'Really appreciate the word about grind. Parting w/ Wacker-sized funds & getting warp & wave is rather disappointing, though I've never had the experience w/ his heavier grinds - which I love. The Aust offerings seem much more affordable. Any time a full or extra hollow have good symetry, I'm impressed. The physics of keeping things straight on so thin a grind still amazes me. A couple of Gencos came in at .005" and .006" and were both straight. It always makes me happy to have newer makers, and especially at working man's prices.

Thanked: 636Hi
I have a round point. Gave it a good strop and it is great. Since then have touched it up on a 10k oil stone. Even better. Love it and hope you do too.
