    Default My famly scored!

My folks were recently in a antique store in Wisconsin and came across a few items they bought for me. They didn't know what they were buying but came up with a Joseph Elliott and a Old Spice mug. I would say they did pretty good! Also does anyone have an idea of how old the Joseph Elliot is?Name: IMG_0271.jpg

Your family scored a very nice razor, and i must say the coffin box look very nice as well.

In dating this razor, Joseph Elliot became Joseph Elliot and Son in 1856. Your razor has no son mentioned so that makes it before 1856, further more silver steel was popular around 1820's so the mention of Best silver steel , make it post 1820 give or take a few.

Personally i would date this razor around 1830-1840.

Please save he etch! The Elliots are almost all very smooth shavers! Congratulations!

Thanks for the help on the date, I had found some conflicting information so this helps clear some things up. And given that the razor was already popping arm hair out of the box it is getting very minimal clean up and right into service. I could never bring myself to wreck the etching.
