    Default My new old razors.

I am fairly new to straight razor shaving. I bought a generic starter kit to see if i could do it. Turns out i can and love it. So I thought i would see what was out there to acquire. The problem is I recently got stationed in Guam and had no luck in finding any for sale for the last to months. Today I found some antiques. Not sure exactly what I have so let me know if i got lucky. They are antiques so not in the greatest condition.]

Great finds all around I'm sure! The pipe razor is an excellent brand with great etching and is usually found with boring black scales, so the tortoise is nice! I personally own a Griffon and can vouche for the quality of the steel. I'm not sure about any others, but it looks like you're doing a fine job scoring. None of the edges seemed to be beyond repair in the way of past honing, pitting, or corrosion of any sort, so I think you have some winners. Congrats!

I agree...A little polishing and a good honing and you have a great rotation going.

They all seem to be thinner and lighter than my more modern one. Is that common

SteveO, there is a straight razor database in the library here that might be helpful finding info on your new razors.
Here is an example Wostenholm, George & Son "Pipe" 5/8 3 - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Also, in the razor section look at razor clubs. The razor
clubs are threads dedicated to certain razor makers and models. I look there to get inspiration for my current projects. I have never restored a razor before so it is going slow

Welcome to SRP! Looks like you made a good haul.

Just what you picked. I have a W&B that weights about 10lbs. :<0) The modern steel may also be different but that doesn't mean better in my book. It doesn't take much of a difference in size or balance to give you a different feel either. That's why you have to get 1 of each!
