Martin de Candre Order Arrival
What a brilliant way to start a Saturday morning, with the mailman delivering a package all the way from France! Enclosed were 2 jars of shaving soap and 2 huge bars of bath soap. One shaving soap is their regular scented and the other is the limited edition run they did of the scent Fougere (translated to Fern). Both bars of soap are Fougere scent and at 250 g they are huge in the hand. I could not decide which shaving soap to order....so I did what anyone with an acquisition disorder would do..I ordered both! I will more than likely shave once with each, pick my favorite and post the other on here to sell off for someone else to enjoy!

Thanked: 284Nice! I didn't even know they had limited edition scent... I'm still surprised no one deals this line of soap in the States

You know, it said limited edition on the website, however from reading on here it appears they have done several runs with this soap and if it is popular it may become a permanent in their line up. It is no where near as strong as the bath soap bars of fougere. I tossed the idea around that if I keep only 1 tub of the soap I may divide it up as samples and post on here so many can enjoy a few shaves with this soap.

Couple of other members recommended this site to me. He has the Fougere right now, but they don't usually last long. I've ordered from him twice with good results. Good communication and fast shipping and takes PayPal. page 1

Thanked: 284Thanks! I may order it. Curious about the new scent. Hope it doesn't get old cause this first jar doesn't look likes it's being used!

Nice, my father-in-law is traveling to Paris in a few weeks, I'll have to have him pick some up for me, might just save a few dollars that way.

The website link posted actually is a great price for the package of aftershave and the MdC soap! The instructions that come with the soap say to leave the top off between shaves because the drier it becomes the longer it will last. I was always under the impression that the super dry was not good, as in Mitchells Wool Fat getting so dry it cracks if not given it own little sub-climate.
I am still in the decision making mode of which to keep and which to break up into samples. Quite honestly, the 2 smell very similar, with a light scent. The fougere shave soap is nothing like the bath soap. The bath soap is very strong scented and is making the entire bathroom and bedroom smell wonderful.

Thanked: 284Well I got a jar of the new scent yesterday from Jason - super fast shipping. I like dealing with that guy. Broke it out to use this morning and wow - LOVE IT.
Don't know quite how to describe the scent - maybe walking through a rain forest? Haha. Anyway, I think in an earlier thread I questioned whether MDC is worth the price. I now fully believe it's worth every penny.I love living in the past...
