    Default Shumate covered tang

In a quest for more American made razors I picked up a covered tang 5/8 Shumate Trusty. The photo is basically as found with just a quicky light polish. Just may hone it up to-nite. Here is hoping it shaves as well as the other US made razors I have.

I have two Shumates, one I loaned out to a beginner & the other is in my top 5 rotation.
    Great shavers.

I have this exact razor, one of my two Shumates. Great shaver and has held up well for it's age (estimated around 1915). Good find!

Thanks guys, it also came with a celluloid tube but have no idea if that is how they came. Just from resetting the bevel I am starting to wonder if these had hard steel.

    Nice and clean
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

It's official, I am thinking it is a good shaver. After this mornings 3 pass shave with a near wedge the house was quiet with everyone else sleeping so I finished honing with a Zulu Gray and gave her a stopping. Then decided what the hay I'll give her a go so had at her. What little was left behind by the near wedge a couple of hours previous the Shumate disposed of neatly. Did a complete 3 pass with her and no irritation. Either she is ready or I've got a hide like a panzer.
