Thanked: 32235/8 Ern "Pearl"
A quick and dirty photo of the Ern Pearl I just got in. The photo is after a quick clean up of the blade with bleech followed with Simply Green soap. As delivered there is going to be next to no extra polishing required and a quick hone. It shows minimal spine wear and a nice narrow bevel. The covered tang is MOP and I guess that why the very good condition gold wash says Pearl. It is actually better looking than in the photos in the auction. Overall very pleased with the seller and the razor.

Thanked: 3223Thanks Martin
It is a good thing there is a feeding frenzy on for big blades, that leaves some choice smaller ones for a reasonable price still available.

Thanked: 1184That is very nice. Who do you think made it? I have one to work on and undecided about what to put on it. The few I see never have any makers marks on them. Is there a club for these? It would be nice to see a lot of pics of these in 1 place.

Thanked: 3223Thanks Pups
Ern made the razor, it is engraved on the on the MOP on one side and the Canadian drugstores name that sold them on the other. Interestingly, Manah informed me that Boker had a, what appears to be, identical razor listed in their 1908 catalog. The only outward difference was that Pear was engraved on the blade not gold washed and Boker marked on the MOP tang scales.
I have a feeling that one of the things that happens to the markings on the MOP scales on some of these is that they simply wear off with time and use.

Yes, Boker is most common, I have a nice Wilbert Pearl, although it looks suspiciously like a Boker. Not uncommon for the maker's marks to have been rubbed off the pearl. I suppose the Pearl's were made by many, like Red Imps!

I rest my case.
