    Default WutzRazor

Some months ago I bought a razor from one of out members here that really caught my attention.
The razor is a WUTZ, German made as the name suggests.
What caught my attention is the pronounced smiling spine on it, combined with a straight edge
It certainly looked different, and as the price was right I happily paid for it.

At this time I was a total novice at honing razors, but I knew someday I would get to try this razor out
Anyways I had a go at honing this razor and quickly met with disappointment when I could not get a bevel set at all
So at that time I decided to put it aside for a while and come back to it later
I am also pretty good at procrastinating as it turns out.
So the razor sat in my batch of "I will actually do it one one day" razor restores

So about 6 months or so later, the urge hit to get working on some razors and this was one I just had to do
I determine that a full restore was probably not what I wanted to be doing at this time and set about giving it a good clean up
The scales were given a clean initially with some Methylated Spirits, then polished with some Auto Wax I had in the garage.

Happy that the razor looked much better now I decided to hone it as well
This time my effort seems to have turned out much better
    Shave test still to come
    Comments and suggestions most welcome

Shave tested with this razor today
It is a heavier blade than I am used to, though it is no more than 11/16" wide, the spine is quite thick.
All things considered it shaved quite well after the usual stropping routine of 40 strokes on felt and 80 strokes on Leather (Big Mama Strop) and followed this with 30 strokes on my roo hide strop.
I did get some irritation after the shave (not normal for me), which I think was caused by my not being used to the weight of the blade.
The next few shaves with this razor should be interesting to see whether the shave gets smoother or the edge improves some more.

Nice looking razor. It looks to be a heavier grind than full hollow so if you are used to full hollows you might have been a little heavy on the weight and got some irritation that way.
