Well its not a Bayonet its a sword (although I do have the Bayonet as well)
its a Faschinenmesser and was issued to Sappers and Artillery for building Fascine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the sword part would be used for defence of the guns but it was not intended as an infantry weapon it was just to save carrying a bill hook a Saw and a Sword
I did not write the Makers name down but it is made in Germany (Solengen) for the Swiss army in aprox 1858

this is Cheapside today, or several years ago. if i had known about straight razor shaving i would have been on the prowl, rather than wasting my time with gelato and sweeney todd.
