6/8 wostenholm Patent Hollow Ground
found this awesome (at least i think) George Wostenholm and sons Patent Hollow Ground. I couldn't find one on SRP so i thought i'd share it. It's a near wedge with horn scales and a lead wedge. the stamp reads George Wostenholm and Sons celebrated IXL razor, washington works, Shefield. if anybody can help with the age or information i would appreciate it.
Like i said i think it's a beauty. i find myself going out in the garage just to look at it. can't wait to get it restored so i can bring it in and look at it. is this weird?

Agreed, that's a good looking razor. Wanting to pick up a shoulderless one myself.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 5In the garage? Heck, I'd be using it.
Nothing wrong with admiring your blades. I'm sure a lot of us do that. Your blade reminds me of my Holley Mfg. razor. That razor was practically screaming my name when I saw it in the antique store. Despite the tiny chips in the edge and my complete inexperience in honing at the time, I still bought it and passed over five other razors with nice edges. You don't have to be insane to do the things that I do, but it helps.

Hate to say it but I learned on and love Sheffields. DD's are a Solingen brand and they are like peas in a pod in many ways. Not dissing them but each Sheffield has a personality. They were made by hand forging til around the end of the first WW. Every one I have though very sharp is a different angle and experience and, a different honing experience.
Enjoy it!!
