Great choice. That straight has some devoted followers. Kindly let us know your thoughts after your shave with her.

That was my very first straight razor purchase over two years ago. Enjoy. Have they squared the tip over time or is it just the angle of the shot? I am sure mine was more round pointed than yours.

Actually JUST now finished the shave. I'll give a full breakdown:

Bought the blade from Superior Shave (my second purchase from them). Passed a TPT out of the box, and did some good things to my arm hair. I went ahead and did my normal stropping routine anyway of 30 passes on hard wool (pasted with Dovo white paste), 10 on clean hard wool, and 50 on latigo.

Long hot shower with plenty of direct water flow onto the beard (this is my secret weapon and seems to make the biggest difference in closeness from shave to shave). Soaked my silvertip shavemac while in the shower.

Did Musgo Real pre-shave oil, then bowl lathered some Trumper's coconut oil cream. Applied to the face, then did a hot towel treatment over all. Massaged in the cream, then wiped clean, and redid the full lather routine (MR oil, and trumper's cream).

Did 1 WTG pass, as usual. Did 1 XTG pass on the cheeks and jawline, (first time, weird angles). Did 1 ATG pass for neck and under-jaw (jowl) area, as usual.

Finished with Osma alum block, then AoS AS balm (sandalwood).

Overall assessment, this is a great shaver. It took the hair off fabulously. When clean shaven, I have a total baby-face, so I don't think I would notice the benefit of the blade's flexibility over "rough-terrain." My skin is smooth and blemish/divot free. Again, a good shave, with no blood despite trying something completely new tonight with it.

Now, 30 minutes later, I will say this, my face is singing right now. My girl tried to cuddle and her hair HURT my face. I had some irritation after last night's shave, which was my first go with a Simpson's chubby and I did a face lather with it, so I think maybe that is a little to blame. Going over that with an exceptionally close shaver can't have helped. I hit my face with some bay rum (like dipping into HCl) and some more balm. Feeling a little better. Great shave, no redness, no blood, but damn is it tender right now. I'm gonna wait and shave again with it Sunday night after my face has had a 2 day rest over the weekend. Again, as far as hair removal goes, it was great. Pre-existing conditions have likely contributed to a less than comfortable after-shave experience, though.

It's definitely not rounded. It's no spike, but I'd call it a fairly standard square tip.

I bought two new Dovo ironwood this spring and summer. Both from the same source. One has the traditional round nose, the other, while still round, is blunt. Great report from the OP.

    A little more Violet Wood...
