The new 10/8" GB of a confessed thief
I basically stole this at €7,50:
For comparison next to a 6/8".
I won't be around for a while, this massive lady needs some love! After restoration, I expect to have 9/8" left, because of the chip.I want a lather whip

That's nice. Too bad about the chip but if it didn't have that the price tag would have undoubtedly been much higher. I remember when those Brittain meat choppers were fetching astronomical prices.

The seller had no clue about the value, even damaged. I would have happily paid a lot more! The scales are shot and I don't have any horn myself, so I think this one will be clothed in ebony. The pitting goes rather deep, I think I will leave quite a lot, as I don't want to practise the removal of pitting on this razor.
I'm as happy as a dog with a big bone! With a few days of work, this GB will be my new pride in my collection.I want a lather whip

Thanked: 1184I'll trade you 2 new bones, a slightly used chew toy, and what's left of the neighbors cat for it :<0) The chew toy has meat flavor. woof !
I may just start going door to door and asking for straight razors. I could put on a back pack and travel across the US and get rich ?
Sorry ,, was a day dream while typing.
Great find and deal.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Nice find! Hope I can get a chopper that inexpensively in some out of the way store here. Congrats.
Hey 10Pups - that gives me an idea. Do the backpack thing door to door but come up with some reason to be "saving the razors". Undoubtably a few air headed residents would remember some rusty old razor in a box and give you a few while hubby is at work. Hell, Boulder County is about the same mentality as Berkley so I may try it myself!

Half a cat? You animal, I love cats! When they're fresh.
Other than that, I fully support your idea of pushing serendipity to its max. I would have had to walk quite a way to happen upon this particular razor, but it is the second I saw on our Dutch Marktplaats.nl in just over a year, so there is some hope
Actually, I went into at least 5 antique shops and found not a single SR. Perhaps going door to door is the way to go, indeed.I want a lather whip

I think you need to clarify the half a cat, are we talking left/ right split, front / back split, or steak/ unmentionables for making sausages split?
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
