Default The Revisor 8/8 and Ed's Cold Path

Purchased a beautiful Revisor 8/8 from the Classified's here a while back.

It just returned from being honed by Glen. He did an awesome job honing my DD Satin Wedge!

So tomorrow, going to try out the Revisor, and Ed's suggestion to put my soaps in the fridge, along with a bottle of water, and add another cold dimension to my regular cold shaves!

So tomorrow's shave will be, "The Revisor and Ed's Cold Path".

Here is the razor for tomorrow:

First off, I just finished putting my Proraso Red back in the fridge.

What a difference it makes to store the soap in the fridge! Proraso lathers at the best of times, but with being cold, the brush loaded up much more fully, and the added cold really helped the lather stick to the face.

Couple that with testing my new Revisor 8/8, it was probably my best shave to date. I'd put the Revisor, honed by Glen, equal to my Thiers-Issard's for a great shave. Never thought I'd like such a big blade, but it turns out I've found a new favorite. Big and full-hollow was awesome, WTG, XTG and ATG went superbly. I've always had a bit of trouble doing ATG on my right neck area, with the bigger blade, no problem.

So thanks to Ed for the great idea of keeping the soap in the fridge, that's were it stays from now on, and thanks to Glen for doing a superb job on honing the Revisor.

Anyone thinking of getting a big blade like this, from someone who preferred the 5/8 and 4/8, this has been a real pleasure shaving with.

Now, to buy more of them....

    Cheers!

Shows you how times and preferences change eh Phrank. Glad it all worked out well though. Only down side is I'll have to buy a bar fridge to keep my soaps in now. SWMBO is not over me expropriating some of the deep freezer for film storage and that was 15 years ago.
