One of the oldest razors here
I recently got this one in. I'm still trying to work out exactly how old it is, but I believe it predates the 1700s. I would be skeptical of this age if it weren't for the touch marks in the center of the blade. I haven't identified them yet, but this is definitely a razor. Scales are obviously pretty new.

Thanked: 9That is awesome, are you preserving it or going to try and get a shave from it?

The scales have been made on modern equipment, so I'm going to make period scales once I track down what it should look like. I'll clean the rust off and, since it's been conveniently reground already, should be able to hone it and try it out. It'll be interesting to shave with, as I'm assuming it is blister steel.

Oh man, I'd mirror polish that bad boy, and throw some chartreuse G10 on there shaped like a Moray Eel! Then I would scrimshaw a Moray Eel fighting a Red Tailed Hawk on the scales. That sh__ would rock some whiskers my man.
