Default First shave with new Bakkus Razor.

I received a copy last week. I tried it last night for the first time.
It's called the Morgenstond 7/8, Bakkus Barbiersmessen. Says it's made from VG-10 steel. I have no way to check that, but comparing the steel to my Spyderco VG-10 knives it does look very similar.

Razor is straight out of the box, sharpened as is out of factory.

And it even shaved out of the box.

Here is a small clip I made with a crappy telephonecam. It's in Dutch, but the conclusion was:

Not a bad razor. Weight is heavy but very stable. i like it. Grip was good. Sharpness out of the box was... shave ready... but nothing more. It could be a lot better when a good honing and stropping would be done, but for out of the box... Seen worse.
All in all, I kind of like it. Fot the money you seem to get a descent razor, heavy made, and looking pretty good as well. The sharpness could be better as I said, but most new "normal" brands I know also need good sharpening out of the box imo.

Some people say it looks like this, or is made as the same factory as that. I don't know. I don't own or use a GD or Titan so I can't compare them. Is it worth the €50... Good question. Not knowing how the other razors perform or their quality is, I think it's not a bad razor for that price. Are there better razors, yep, for sure. Are there worse razors out there, yes there are.

But hey, it's my 2 cents.
I'm sharpening it up to my wishes and it's going into the shaving rotation.

    Thanks for watching.

I have both this razor and the Titan. In my opinion, both are simply dressed up Chinese razors. Neither came shave ready out of the box and both had been worked on to remedy the usual problems with these resulting in some uneven flattening of the spines and some work on the shoulders. In any case, both were honed up and both provided an adequate shave which these razors normally will do.

    Have fun.

Someone else I know bought it and the same with the washers. The pin was loose out of the box. Its got gold dollar written all over it.oh one more thing, its not 7/8. Stick photo was single stabilizer but mine is 2.
