What do you guys think of this baby?
Well last year I had a filarmonica that I sold. I got it for just a bit over $50 which is the limit that I set myself for vintage blades. For the months that I owned I notice how great it took an edge and how smooth of a shave it gave, but it didn't really look all that well. Browsing the galleries I always drooled over Celtic crusader's razor and my lust for filarmonicas was ignited. So when i saw a decent shaped filarmonica I haggled until I got a price I was comfortable paying. Ok here is the link

I have truly tried to find a better shaver than my priced Filarmonicas.
I've found many good ones, but not one that surpasses the magic of Jose montserrat Pou!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1184That looks like a very nice razor ! Is it 7/8 or ? Looks big. You made a fine deal. I have never tried one but I would say you may have found the cure for your RAD. OR quadrupled your spending limit :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

That's a beauty, no doubt about it!!
And yes, it looks like a 7/8 or even an 8/8, the big blades are awesome, I'm sure you'll really enjoy that blade!!!

Well if it is an 8/8 I am going to own 4 blades that are 8/8 or larger
A friodur 8/8 French point
A George Wostenholm 9/8 barber's notch
A velociraptor 8/8 French point
#1 made for the afeitado vintage forum members
This filarmonica square point
I think that a round point 8/8 should compliment the collection.

Here extra info from the seller:
Hi, I will package it up and get it in the mail Monday morning, Priority Mail, Insured with Signature Confirmation. I will send you an email after I have printed out the shipping label. My husband actually bought this razor about 50 years ago when he was sailing on merchant ships. He was a 3rd Class Engineer, he graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York, in 1963, so he was an officer on the ship. They went into a port in Spain where he bought the razor brand new, he thinks it cost then about $10.00. I wish he had bought about 1 dozen of them. We were not married yet, but I knew him. Now you have a history about the razor. I talk to much. Thank you I hope you enjoy it.
Then I asked if he shaved with a straight razor and here is her reply:
My husband said he might have tried it once or twice to shave but he did not have the belt to sharpen it so he did not use it much.Last edited by rocarule; 12-15-2013 at 12:48 AM.

A smoking deal. The goldwash might have to go to arrest the active rust, up to you.
Don't let Tarkus hear me say this, but those are some nice Filarmonica scales! (I NEVER say that! ) I have one too. Does not everyone? (seems like it sometimes!)
Mine is black-scaled, older, no goldwash, with a bit of wear. A Beautiful thing to me. A Gift from a great friend!
They shave like the fluttering of butterflies upon the face! Or moths?
Way to go!Last edited by sharptonn; 12-15-2013 at 01:07 AM.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Well I think the buyer just backed off. She sent me this message, but I don't buy it
Dear robertopics,
I am so sorry but I was wrapping the razor in 2 tissues so it would fit more smugly in the box and the knife fell on the floor and 2 chuncks broke off the razor blade edge. It is not a pretty sight. I will have to refund you your money. I don't believe I did that. I will issue you a full refund. You don't even want to see what I did to it.
