Default Another Wade & Butcher chopper!

Well this is what I got in today off the bay. Yeh I overpaid but I REALLY wanted one! She was actually in pretty good shape! I was very pleased! There was just a few spots of pitting and your usual active rust around the pivot hole underneath the scales. I think I'm going to have some fun with this one. Especially because I am expecting to get a buffer for Christmas. I think that I will keep her as original as I can besides the wedge. I have some blue agate and red agate that I am itching to try.

Looks great!! Be prepared to fall in love...these big Sheffield blades really set the bar for me...when you get it cleaned up and honed, be sure to post the pics and let us know how you find the shave.

The scales on both mine literally crumbled when they were removed...congratulations, I know you'll be very pleased!!!

Nice. If it was me, other than honing it, I would do as little as possible. If the wedge end is good leave it be. A little fine 0000 wool on the scales with some neatsfoot maybe. I'd rather have one all original, even if it was a little beat up, than one gussied up with fancy new scales. Try dental floss around the pivot to avoid unpinning and still clean it up. I just leave the grunge at the pivot myself but different strokes ......... Just IMHO.

Yeh I wish it was as simple as that. The scales were in REAL bad shape. Yet I did keep the lead wedge. You never know I may still use it. We will see. Like I said though I want to keep scale shape and material the same. You know close as possible to the way it was. This is what the scales looked like.Name: image.jpg

Strange saying, "stay on the original path", when I just saw another SOTD where you were using a Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide Power 5 blade cartridge razor! Hahaha...little joking around, couldn't resist!!
