    Default BJ Eyre Challenger Sheffield

    hey guys, I just won an auction on a BJ EYRE CHALLENGER SHEFFIELD SR It's .875 wide dont know how wide thats is exactly, its more than 3/4 and less than an inch i know that much. I will post pictures as I am verbally challenged I would just like some Info. The auction was for 2 razors. Any info and or feedback is very much appreciated.

    Yours looks like a wedge or near wedge with barber's notch, 19th century according to above info. Some over-honing, which I've found especially common with wedges (either testament to their age or difficulty of honing), but I'm sure you could have it nicely restored and usable in time!

    I can't make out any stamp on the second razor, but its edge is completely shot, I'd say not worth any time or effort (but an expert grinder might disagree).

    agreed, the first is restorable, the second is toast. Keep those tan scales though, they're sure to look great on another blade.
