Default Visit to Planete Rasoir, Paris

Today I visited the renowned Paris store, Planete Rasoir. You may ask why!

This store sells Martin de Candre referred to as MDC. Well, of course I bought some as well as another new shaving cream recommended as being as good as MDC, Savon A Barbe. Ok, I am a sucker, but must be good because if I understood the sales lady its ingredients include 25% donkey juice! The drawing on the front of the tin does show a donkey.

I can hear you asking who was the donkey... haha.

Generally all prices were expensive and most items can be purchased on line far cheaper, but how can you visit France and not buy MDC. The perfumes available were very disappointing compared to Galeries LaFayette just down the road.

Tomorrow I will try out the Donkey cream and report back. I have been shaving with TOBS Grapefruit for the last month, it is my current favourite.

Visiting the store must have been awesome!

Funny you mentioned purchasing some Savon A Barbe....I just ordered a shaving soap tin that has alum as part of it's mixture from them, Savon A Barbe, Osma...can't wait to try it.

Let us know how the Donkey lather works out...

Glad you are having fun mike, but "donkey cream" just sounds all wrong, though are you sure that isn't an ass on the tin right I am stopping there.
Paris is a beautiful city isn't it, I only visited once for a long weekend but I really quite liked it.

Savon A Barbe was the shaving cream of choice this morning. It did not leap out as anything outstanding, however I did enjoy an excellent shave as one would expect at the price paid.

With 25% donkey fat, my guess is that the Savon A Barbe is the French equivalent of England's Mitchell's Wool Fat, which is one of my favourites.

    Tomorrow:- MDC

Cheers from Paris. Ed, my daughters and I still prefer London!

Yes, London is better in some respects, I thought drivers in London were nuts until I went to the continent.

Hum, Plančte Rasoir have quite a bad reputation among us.

They're known to know quite nothing about straight razors, still advising (the most expensive of course !).

I prefer not to express myself about Parisians drivers ^^ But they're a lot of beautiful monuments and cultural heritage to see in Paris

I have yet to go to London but I'll take a trip back to Paris anytime I can get there. The last time I was there I wanted to visit Planet Rasoir but found that it was not close to anywhere I intended to be at the time. So I skipped it and opted for a trip to an Absinthe shop instead. It made for a good substitute.
