Thanked: 6Couple of additions to the collection
Good day all, I figured I'd post up some recent additions that I've found or was given as gifts over the past month.
1. Boker King Cutter, 5/8, full hollow, celluloid scales, unfortunately a victim of cell rot and unsalvageable. Gift from my parents in law for Christmas, still a nice looking razor.
2. Griffin Carbo-Magnetic, 5/8, full hollow, bakelite scales (i think, matte finish and different feel from celluloid, definitely some kind of synthetic) took an edge like it was brand new and is a very fine blade. Gift from parnets in law for Christmas.
3. Boker King Cutter, 5/8, full hollow, celluloid scales, factory edge was still on the blade and is one of the smoothest shavers in my collection. Antique store find, $25.
4. Wade and Butcher, 5/8 (now, visible hone wear, unsure of original size), hollow, horn scales (need to be replaced, one side is broken off at the pin), very nice edge and shaver. I had to try a shave despite the broken scales, I love the etching on the blade. Antique store find, $30.
5. Johan Engstrom 1874, 13/16 (some hone wear, probably 7/8 when new), full hollow, celluloid scales. The spine is quite thin for a blade this size giving it a very fine edge, pleasantly surprised at how nice it was to shave with. Antique store find, $30.
