Default Couple of additions to the collection

Good day all, I figured I'd post up some recent additions that I've found or was given as gifts over the past month.

    1. Boker King Cutter, 5/8, full hollow, celluloid scales, unfortunately a victim of cell rot and unsalvageable. Gift from my parents in law for Christmas, still a nice looking razor.

    2. Griffin Carbo-Magnetic, 5/8, full hollow, bakelite scales (i think, matte finish and different feel from celluloid, definitely some kind of synthetic) took an edge like it was brand new and is a very fine blade. Gift from parnets in law for Christmas.

    3. Boker King Cutter, 5/8, full hollow, celluloid scales, factory edge was still on the blade and is one of the smoothest shavers in my collection. Antique store find, $25.

    4. Wade and Butcher, 5/8 (now, visible hone wear, unsure of original size), hollow, horn scales (need to be replaced, one side is broken off at the pin), very nice edge and shaver. I had to try a shave despite the broken scales, I love the etching on the blade. Antique store find, $30.

    5. Johan Engstrom 1874, 13/16 (some hone wear, probably 7/8 when new), full hollow, celluloid scales. The spine is quite thin for a blade this size giving it a very fine edge, pleasantly surprised at how nice it was to shave with. Antique store find, $30.

    6. Joseph Rogers and Sons, wedge, 5/8 (unsure of original size), bone scales (cracked, need to be replaced), unsure of what type of bone it is, any input would be appreciated. First wedge I've owned and was quite impressed at how different it felt, I like it quite a bit. Antique store find, $15.

    7. D. Redlaw and Sons, 5/8, full hollow, celluloid scales. I cannot find any info on this razor, I'm in the process of putting an edge on it to see if it shaves. Antique store find, $15.

    8. De Witt ceramic tool sterilizer from barber shop. Made in Liverpool, I thought it was cool and matched the vintage blades I have. Gift from my wife.

That's it for now, collection is up to 15 razors now and will surely grow as I find more.

    Thanks for looking,

    Dave

Ah, the addiction of it all. I have temporarily stopped at 35 razors and have eliminated 5 so far, trying to get down to a 14 day rotation. There are days when even blinders don't help in avoiding opportunities to acquire more razors (of all types, excluding the monstrous multi blade objects). Good luck in finding keepers.

Yes, the addiction of it all...it's a lot of fun, that's for sure!

I'm at 22 razors, with one bid left in the pipe, which I will probably lose. I'm testing myself not to increase the bid, if I win the bid, it will definitely be an incredible addition for a very low price, but am prepared to pass on it.

For now, the only blade that will grab my attention would be the GB Iron Cross Anchor, and until then, I'm quite happy with my current blades, I've reached the stage where I'm only interested in a certain type of blade, and so far it's worked, they're all keepers and I don't need any more unless I want to start shaving twice a day!!

    Good luck!

Some great finds! Love the Joseph Rodgers and the etching on the W&B. Very cool container, also!

Thanks for the kind words, it's a work in progress and there are only 3 razors in the collection that aren't shavers. I'm always on the lookout for more razors to play with and it's gotten easier now that most of the antique dealers call me when they get some in stock instead of me going to them all the time. Is it a bad thing they know me by name now? Haha!

Also, if anyone else on here is in the Kingston area, I'm sorry for buying most of the razors worth buying.

Might consider keeping that Boker far away from your other blades.

Really lucky to find some beauty ... specially at that price.

Most definitely, no interest in ruining perfectly good blades. I'm a little bummed that it's too far gone, I don't like simply being able to look at them...

Ischiapp, thanks man! I was pretty pumped when I saw it, the etching is perfect and the detail in it doesn't fully come through in pictures.
