SWMBO was in Ohio last week, and picked these up at an antique store she passed during her travels:
A Simmons and Howe, KEEN KUTTER Blue Steel (5/8)
Sadly, the front scale is broken at the pivot.
A Joseph Allen & Sons NON-XLL Medium Size Hollow Ground (11/16)
This one has a tiny ding at the toe.
A rather rustic looking Joseph Allen & Sons NON-XLL Medium Size Hollow Ground (5/8)
It has less hone wear than the one above, but I think those may be replacement scales.
She also scored an old, unlabeled horsehide/linen strop.Last edited by Dzanda; 01-20-2014 at 11:11 PM. Reason: App froze during editing.

Please divorce your wife so I can marry her. Mine always complained there wasn't enough money for her to spend.
Three good finds. I have a Joseph Allen NON-XXL exactly like that, that I found in an antique store. It is one of my better shavers. Scales can be replaces - especially on the 'rustic' one."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

The rustic NON-XLL has its own unique appeal...I'd kinda like to keep it pretty much as is; it looks like there's a story there.
I'm thinking that I may have the two NON-XLL blades switched, and a minimal restoration done to preserve the blade in the rustic scales. That way the nicer blade can be fully restored, and I'll still have a cool conversation piece. There's so little difference between the size of the blades that I don't think that the swap would be a problem.
BTW: I'll be keeping the wife!Last edited by Dzanda; 01-22-2014 at 04:38 PM.
