It looks like it should clean up nicely. The chips don't look bad and shouldn't be a problem honing out, but like any vintage can't really tell till it hits the stones.
It looks very save-able. You could get a new or different set of scales, hone and shave. How far you go on the cleanup on that one is a personal choice. The black spots are rust, but will go for a long time with them left there.
It's not the first straight I've had that's needed chips honing out and a de-rusting, and I doubt it'll be the last. :)
There's lots of razor there to work with, that should be a real beauty. Nice buy.
very cool etch on that blade! I like it.
Can always paint clear nail polish on the etch while you attack the surrounding areas then remove it afterwards with acetone if youre unsure. Nice find, I like the etch
Well, the razor was delivered today, and I'm impressed with it already. It's a fairly hefty chunk of steel, a good 6/8 blade. Have some before and after photos...
