    It was the etching that attracted me, it's not the seemingly normal Butlers Shakespeare etching. And hopefully that stays on if I attack the blade with the WD40 and wet/dry.

    I would use whatever metal polish you have handy... that pitting/rust does not seem very deep.

    Well, the razor was delivered today, and I'm impressed with it already. It's a fairly hefty chunk of steel, a good 6/8 blade. Have some before and after photos...

    you are correct, that is a wedge. It looks ok, are the scales in fine order? It may be time to send her off for a honing, or start soaking the hones.

    One of the scales has an end missing, replacements are being searched for. As for honing, the Kings and DT are getting soaked, and the electrical tape is being readied.
