    Default Clauss Covered Tang

Found this on ebay, it was a tentative purchase but for $20 who cares? Seems to be a nice razor that needs at the most very minor restoration. Does anyone know much about Clauss Straights, should I try to take the covers off the tang and inspect for rust?

It might be a nice blade. The pics are bad, so the nice is more of a reference to the condition because the manufacturer is reputable.

I was surprised to see this go for so little, Albeit I don't know much about vintage razors but it seems to be pretty cheap. The seller was very reputable and has a history with knives so I figured it would be a decent gamble.

I have bought several razors that were from very sketchy pictures. So far they have been good razors at incredible prices. As long as you acknowledge in advance that you are actually gambling with the cost, it's all good. Sometimes you come out on top ...

I have bad experiences with Ebay, One time I ordered a vintage railroad watch and it never arrived and ebay refused to do anything about it. Granted that was many years ago, but I am still quite apprehensive about the whole ebay thing. I see it much like I see like blackjack, You know what you have, you know what you want, but you never know for sure what's in-between you and it.

I would take the tang cover off not only to clean out rust (which was common in covered tangs), but to put a new one on because yours has a broken tail. Not a huge deal but it could effect the way it feels in your hand while you're shaving.

Clauss are a good brand though, so it should take a nice edge as long as the razor is in decent condition.
