The United States Post Office is off the hook. They did not missplace my hone.:D
The box was never mailed!:rant::cen
So, Best Sharpening Stone is Express Mailing it and I should receive the hone Monday or Tuesday. They are also refunding my shipping charges. Pretty decent of them.
You would think for a $130 USD hone FedEx or UPS would have been a more secure shipper.:cen

I'm considering doing all my business with Japanese services.
Yes, it is interesting, I don't mind barber's notched razors, can live with them, but pretty much try to avoid round tipped blades completely, yet for some reason the spike points really work for me, like the way they shave and handle, and they just look great to me. Also, I pretty much prefer 7/8 now and above, but I have some 4/8, 5/8, and 6/8 and they're all great blades.
But yea, I really go for the spike points, it's really hard to find the types of blades I like with that kind of tip...but the searching is fun! And it's all great I guess, until I decide what next to explore.
Cheers!
Genco Easy Aces with cracked ice scales. Should be here Tuesday.
Nice. There are a couple of Gencos at one if the antique stores I shop at but they have broken blades. Doesn't it suck when you think you found something good and you open it up to find a HUGE chunk of blade missing?

Goes like this: find a razor or box in a locked case (they always are, okay i get that) so you find a clerk to unlock the case and hand you the "razor" which you open and find a shattered, broken, rusted away, etc. basically nothing but scales--which would be fine if they were nice scales, but they never are. Been through that exact scenario at least 30 times.
There is a dubl duck satinedge or wonderedge I think at another store I go to that is completely rusted. Crap scales. I think it is cell rot. For $1I am thinking about buying it just to get it away from the other razors.
A Dubl Duck Goldedge, Boker Red Injun, and a Robeson ShurEdge out being honed by Lynn to shave ready goodness, a rich man's strop kit from Whipped Dog, a G-12 scuttle from Georgetown pottery, and a nice looking Rolls Razor I won on eBay.
Thank goodness for this thread. I need a place to safely vent my exuberance...

This bad boy just arrived today!!

Bought a Norton 4k/8k combo and should have it by Saturday afternoon to get some honing and touch-ups done. I don't mind the wait...it'll give me some time to come up with an excuse for SWMBO. :hmmm:
A slightly used Zulu Grey 8 x 3. I think I got a decent deal considering what it sells for. The 6 x 2 ZG I have is decent to use but I feel that the added contact area and contact time might save me some strokes on the hone. Maybe I could cut the 6 x 2 length wise and make to Barber hones? just a thought....
Just got these in the mail!
I can finally migrate some of my favorite soaps to a permanent home. Just have to decide what two soaps get "mug" status!?!:hmmm:
Two vintage Old Spice Shaving Mugs.
The, "Grand Turk", Salem, 1786, and the, "Recovery", Salem, 1794.

Love those. Always reminds me of my grandfather. I use one but I actually like a taller mug for building lather. Still love using it though because he gave it to me and I'm sure he used it for many years.
