I got some mirce hardware in the mail hopefully. Microfasteners called me the next day after I made my order and said they didn't have the bolts in stock but should get them soon. Hope I dont have to wait a month or two for my order.

It came to my attention last week that I own zero pieces of flax linen. Waiting on delivery of a two piece fire hose strop arriving today.
Just came in from MikeB52's house. These types of care packages make me REAL excited! The strop came all the way from Texas, from crazy Texas Tom. The guy seriously spoils me. Thanks so much Tom for the strop, it's in excellent condition!
The rest came from right here in Ontario. From Mikes house in Orangeville. The big black block is 2000 year old Bog Oak which has me super giddy!! Can't wait to get it on the lathe! Also included is a blank and matching scale blanks of Mikes latest Wood/resin hybrid pour. Also really looking forward to using those.
What's the unknown blank Mike? Mahogany?
Thank's again guys.

Sorry but I have to show this thing off a little.. 2 piece fire hose strop with a 1970's and 1950's component from Keith at Tomonagura on Etsy. I think the linen does a great job cleaning and refining the edge.. plus it looks cool.

Just ordered a 2-1/2" Fast Bridle "Old No. 2" strop with barber's ends from Tony Miller!
Yessir, mahogany is that lil stub Andrew. I thought you'd have use for that either alone, or as a segment in one of your builds.
The bog oak, estimated @4000 BC based on the colour and tannic saturation, really looking forward to your feedback on that stuff as well. Hard. Hard natural material.
I'd suggest you clean the lathe area really well to save all the awesome black shavings and turning bits generated as you work it. Stuff is black gold for repairing old nibbled horn scales, as Outback has demonstrated on a few repairs.
Enjoy, and have some fun with it buddy..
I can't believe how dense, heavy and black it is. Crazy that it's that old too. Just amazing!
I will for sure collect every morsel of it Mike. I do the same with ivory...... You'd be crazy not to.!
I made this for one of our buds on here out of it last year.

That grain, and contrast is just so unique. My next build, no finish I believe as on this pipe. Cause every finish I used filled that calligraphy looking contrast and the project became solid black. Beautiful, but solid black..
Now you turn a handle out of this stuff, and some of that ivory you have!!!
OMG, that'd be the HarryWally Special I'd have to buy..
;)
I splurged last night and bought myself the last tool pouch I'll ever buy...... At least it better be!!! This is a total Buy once, cry once purchase because it wasn't cheap. But I'm tired of wearing a crap pouch at work that is uncomfortable and digs into my hips. My last pouch, or as you Americans call them, bags, that I'm currently using are pretty good. But I hate how my pencils hang out and get caught and break on things when climbing through joist spaces and rafters. My current belt also tend to pinch my belly, and pull out belly hairs when I bend over. When I'm having a bad day this is just fuel for the fire and I can turn into a major asshole pretty quick.
So I did it. Ordered the Occidental 5191, Buscadero style bags with sheepskin lining. Hopefully the break in period wont be too long, but I wear a pouch for 10 hours a day so it shouldn't take too long.... I hope.

Shit, that's a gorgeous work belt.. Love the sacrificial design to the main strap that goes through the buckle. Truly will last a lifetime..
Just wondering if any of the guys at work can spot the difference between Andrew in minor, vs major asshole mode,, hahaha. Can just imagine you up in the joists cussin and swearin, hittin things.
I miss construction actually now that I think about it...
