Nice find Paul. But be careful honing it up as those black spots on the edge may crumble.

I just wrote that off to staining but looking closely that edge is a little chippy just behind the spots.

Very nice but how you supposed to use it bent up in a pretzel like that?
Well, duh! I'm going to use it on my pretzel razor.:nj
Arrived a couple of days ago. Nakayama mizuasagi. I've lapped it flat with a diamond plate then wet n dry 800, 1200, 2000 followed by rubbing with tomo nagura to leave a nice smooth surface. The stone is just moderately hard, not stupid hard like Jnats can sometimes be. Very fine grit. Shaved off the stone once and the razor was super sharp but not Jnat smooth. Probably over honed. More testing ahead.

I'll have to repolish the blades since someone went a bit hard with steel wool on them, but the fact that it was pinned backwards is too funny a part of its history (*) for me to change that.
No brand, just a 2 on the hook of both the mechanism (which, while a bit hard, works correctly) and the blades.
And the box is so tiny and cute lol
(*) it's probably original, AFAIK
Nice find.
That’ll be fun to fix up!
This lovely old Tillotson just arrived this morning. I've been on the lookout for this manufacturer for a while now and finally found this beauty. Blade is in good shape, a bit of staining and pitting up near the spine but the sharp end is clear. Shouldn't need too much effort to pretty up. There is a very faded etching on the blade, cant make out what it is. Any ideas? The scales look ok. A bit dry, a tiny spot of warping and small chip near pivot pin to the front scale. I think they will look nice with a little work. I will put before and after pics in workshop thread when resto is done.
