Late last Saturday night (actually, very early Sunday morning), a 75g tube of Geo. F. Trumper Spanish Leather shaving cream, and a matching 50ml bottle of cologne (two different sources, both arriving this week). This was a favorite combo of Obie's, and I kept telling myself to order them -- but never did -- until now... when it's too late to tell him.

So far I have used the lime shaving soap and aftershave splash. I really like their lime scent. It smells like an actual lime and not similar to one.
Thanks Raol for the opputunity to try these products.

Use a 4 sided nail buffing sponge. You wouldn't believe how smooth that thing will make them. You don't even need to inpin it. You can work around them or polish up the pin heads and collars also.
Edit: assuming, that is, that you dont like the grain showing. It kind of adds character.
Its weird stuff for sure. I used 600 w/d after steel wool didn't smooth it out but it didn't phase it, I kind of like it now but it's not like other horn I have had.Quote:

The "wedge" is a notch in the horn itself on each half to make a wedge/spacer, cut by hand no less.
I believe it is a regrind but VERY well done and cleaned up great from what it was.
Funny thing, I had bought an ERN Crown & Sword 1166 from the seller for 40 Cad. and he sent me the W&B he had listed for 200 Cad. While I was waiting for the ERN to come I honed and shaved with the W&B and really liked it. I don't normally like near wedges or heavy grinds but this felt much lighter in use with a pretty thin edge so I made him an offer to keep it and he went for it. Maybe he thought I was going to keep it anyway;) Full 7/8.

That's a grrat era for sheffield steel (1840s-1860s). It takes such a great smooth edge, especially with a few strokes on a coti after the finish. Often I will run one up the Arks from a Pike Nš 1 (lapped differently on both sides to give two different honing sufaces) to either my big trans or a black ( I have a great vintage Smith's 4" black; small but excellent rock), strop through the cloth and leather progression then do about 5-6 but less than 10 laps on a coti then 60 laps on a good flax or hemp fiber. That edge is perhaps my very favorite.
