Thanks Mick. That was exactly what I thought. Probably never really used, sat in a drawer, got found and sent to be sold.

It looks like you have been scouring out all the nice old choppers Paul. That large lot is most intriguing. The army razor is a good project, deep but good.
So that lot of choppers came in today. Still kind of processing. The FBU is not as awesome as I had hoped but that other great big thing is intriguing. It turns out it's not an anchor. It's actually a Wm. Stenton & Son Again Superior with "Ne Plus Ultra" etched on the blade face.

It's a healthy 19/16" big ol' whopper. Not in bad condition considering. That chip sucks but...whatever.
The scales are wrong, probably caused the chip. It wouldn't even close.

What the HELL they were thinking I can't even guess. The first thing I did was pull those off, well, aside from scraping a little rusty funk off the etching so I could read it.
It will clean up well though. Here's after a few minutes of cleaning with the 3M Marine on a rag.

Scales are rough but fixable.
I have had two stentons, one big one, still have it. The scales that came with it and probably original, were was too small. The wedge seems quite odd also. I remade the scales and with the original wedge was not anything I wanted, so now it has nice new bone scales.
Oh, this one is definitely getting the treatment. It's going to live up to its name once I'm done.
Alright.! What else in there. ?
