Drones are the future of recon, among other areas. I hope at least.
Playing with these 'toys' is teaching the next generation of servicemen and women how to be adept and 'in the cockpit' via remote in ways impossible even 5 years ago.
I remember how hard it was to learn to fly, or drive RC toys towards yourself as a kid with opposite reacting controls. Crashed many a testor product in my day..
These new drones are so much more capable that even I with my heavy hands on the sticks can fly with grace and precision. Plus there is a 'return home' button if you lose it in the sun or because you can't orientate yourself to the view.
I have a land based 'jumping sumo', also by parrot, that can maneuver across all terrain but water, and climb stairs, as well as jump 1 meter in the air.
Also has the built in camera to put you in the cockpit.. Fun to torment the pets with and easy to see the military applications with all it's extra functionality.
I think us techy guys are in for lots of fun in the near future.

I have an order from Fendrihan's on the way. New strop, some blades for my DEs, and a few free samples of stuff. Strop is the important item.

Cannot wait to get a Round table pizza deliverd by a drone

A 60x lighted loupe. Spent a few bucks more to get the one that comes with a clip to be used in conjunction with your phone camera. It's my way of being able to inspect an edge with the option to post pics here if I'm in doubt, without buying a 200x usb microscope.

three nos filarmonicas are heading my way, one of them underpriced, one of them reasonably priced, and one at the limit of what I would pay. another filly novodur for under $150 in what appears to be great shape. will they compete favorably with my Friodurs? we shall see! All, btw, or for shaving, I am not really a collector. If they shave as well as everyone suggests, I feel blessed. Otherwise, someone else will!

An old Waltham key wind pocket watch dating back to the Civil War 1865. Don't know if it was carried during the war but it is completely original. The pics do it no justice. I don't have it yet & I took the pics of my computer screen.

If you're interested in that stuff, an awesome book about the next generation of these things, moving into AI for the drones, and swarming models, a fantastic book is, "Kill Decision" by Daniel Suarez.

I posted about the book earlier and the drone modelling on the behaviour of Weaver ants - an incredible species of ant...a book that you won't put down.

Mike, that sounds cool to me. Modern technology has come a long way, especially with the drones. It's amazing what they can do with them. No loss of life if one is shot down, but they can spy, bomb & target all kinds of things!

Thanks Andrew, going to go on Amazon, see if I can kindle that book. Between that and Predator my reading material will be good till spring!
