Weekend Haul
I was traveling this weekend - found 3 straights and a couple gillette DE's out in the wild. Going to see if I can "tame" them.
A Shumate 850 (needs the most work) but I have heard such good things; a Crown Razor co extra hollow ground fully warranted; and finally, a Theo. A. Kochs co. Chicago, made in Germany SPEEDWELL. Any personal experiences with these straights?Last edited by JoelLewicki; 03-25-2014 at 12:31 AM.
State v. Durham, 323 N.W. 2d 243, 245 (Iowa 1982) (holding that a straight razor is per se a "dangerous weapon").

Forgot to say, since I was flying, I just mailed them to myself! Anyone had to do that before? It was a new level of RAD for me

Some nice finds. Doesn't look like it will be alot of work to get them cleaned up. Try and save the scales on the Shumate because they look really nice when polished up. I had a set, but snapped them pinning a razor. Shumates are great shavers, but no experience with Crowns unless it has something to do with ERNs. Koch I think did imports, but am not sure. I had one and it was a fantastic shaver.

I have that same Crown razor in pretty much the same size but the etching is worn a bit more on the blade. It was one of my first straight razors and it should hone up nicely for you. Mine produces a fine shave, enjoy.
