Called straight razor designs today and the suggested to reuse the scales. And that the scales are most likely not made out of celluloid....... can a razor have cell rot from scales not made from celluloid ?

Only if it was near celluloid on another razor perhaps, im almost certain those are celluloid and were clear to begin with.

Those are indeed celluloid scales. If you really want to be sure about the cell rot, do the test in the link I provided earlier in the thread:

Put the scales in a ziploc bag for about 48 hours. After that, open and smell. If it's cell rot, you'll most likely smell a vinegar like smell from the bag, since the scales will be releasing the gas that caused the corrosion of the blade.

Until you're absolutely sure about the scales, I'd quarantine them from any razors you have to prevent any damage.

Point taken, I'll order some brass rod and make a new set of scales , if the scales I got good or bad could break down over time I'd as soon replace them now

There are some materials out there you could get that would match the originals but without the dangers of celluloid

Good call!! Brass rod is available at a welders place as brazing rod. Some guys use cheap office supply clip boards for scales and tht works well.
