Default Gillette 40s style Super Speed

I can't resist this style of Gillette Super Speed DE. Found a nickle(?) one today to go with the gold one I have. They are so nicely made and shave smoothly. This one had a slight problem with one door one one end not coming down completely. A little judicious bending seems to have solved that and looking forward to giving her a whirl in the morning.

They are great razors. That style was made from '47 to '54 IIRC when the flare tip came out. Not sure but I think Gillette called the gold one the Milord.

Thanks for the comments guys. This ones date code, X1, puts it as a 1952 model made sometime Jan. to Mar. of that year. I do have a later flair tip but I think they cheapened them a bit by then. The 40s style is just a nice industrial strength clean design to me.

This is still one of my favorite razors. Mine has no date code, so probably '47-'50. I can easily shave in the dark with this thing and still come out of it without a cut. With a Feather blade and 3 passes, this is an easy, smooth BBS every time.
