Unusual Hone/Strop found!
Just found this Sunday at the Flea market. I won't be putting any of my blades on it (I know, I'm a coward), but it's pretty cool.
I give you "Earl's Cast Steel Hone and Strop For Razors And Surgical Instruments".
The directions read "Pat a little paste on the steel with a drop of sweet oil on the same and lay your razor perfectly flat with a circular motion until brought to an edge so you can cut a hair; Then use the bare steel and strop right. If, on trying the razor, there should be any harshness apply". Unfortunately I can't read the rest. I guess the two holders on either side of the case were for the paste and sweet oil which are missing.
I've never seen a steel hone/strop before. Learn something new everyday!

Thanked: 1184Maaannn that is a cool piece. I think I would have to find a razor to try on it at least once.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
